You can delete your amZettel account (app for iPhone, iPad and Android and web app, provided by COCOAR e.U.) yourself at any time — or request deletion by email if you no longer have the app. The German version of this page is authoritative.
In the app or on the web
- Open “Profile & Settings”: in the app for iPhone, iPad and Android via your avatar, in the web app (app.amzettel.at) via your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Scroll all the way down to the “Danger zone” section.
- Choose “Deactivate account” and confirm the prompt.
- Confirm with a fresh sign-in — a code we send to your email address, or, where set up, your passkey.
The web app works in any browser. You therefore do not need to have the app installed to delete your account — signing in with your email address is enough.
By email
If you cannot or do not want to sign in any more, write to support@amzettel.at and state the email address of your amZettel account. Ideally send the message from that very address; otherwise we will ask there before deleting anything. We then deactivate the account for you. From that point the same period applies as for deletion in the app.
What happens next
- Immediately: the account is deactivated. You are signed out on every device, and sessions and your devices' push registrations are deleted. Other members of content you share see you as deactivated.
- For 30 days the account can be restored: simply sign in again and choose “Reactivate account”. Your data, credits and memberships are then back unchanged. If another member has taken over ownership of a shared item in the meantime, it stays with them.
- After 30 days the account is permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.
What is deleted
- your profile: email address and display name;
- your lists, calendars, cookbooks and meal plans that have no active member other than you — with all entries, recipes and photos;
- your personal settings, favourites, notification preferences and reminders;
- your credits, their history and your plan and subscription status with us;
- your customer record at our subscription provider RevenueCat;
- pending invitations from and to you, your block list, other people's blocks against you, and private contact names;
- connections to external systems (for example AI assistants);
- the installation data of your devices and browsers and all push tokens.
What remains
- Shared content: lists, calendars, cookbooks and meal plans that you share with others and in which someone is still active remain available to those members — including the entries you created there. Your name is replaced by “Deleted user”. Please delete anything you do not want to leave behind before you deactivate the account.
- An anonymous identifier: all that remains of your account is an internal number without name or email address, so that shared content stays consistent, plus a non-reversible marker that this account was deleted.
- Your sign-in account at the shared Cocoar sign-in service is not deleted together with the amZettel account. Your email address and the passkeys you set up remain stored there. The reason: the same sign-in account also lets you sign in to other Cocoar applications — deleting it would remove your access to all of them. If you want it deleted anyway, write to support@amzettel.at and we will delete it.
- Server logs (IP address, time) are overwritten automatically after a short period, independently of the account.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting the account does not end a Premium subscription — it runs through the store where you bought it (App Store, Google Play or Amazon Appstore) and would otherwise keep renewing. Cancel it there before you delete your account.
Deleting only some data
You can delete individual lists, calendars, cookbooks, meal plans, entries, recipes and photos in the app at any time without giving up your account. For anything else — access, rectification or deletion of specific data — an email to support@amzettel.at is enough. Details are in the app's privacy policy.
